It’s been a long haul making the tea-light houses. I ran out of them at both the Bath and Exeter Christmas Market and folks have been asking for them ever since.

To save taking umpteen shots of the same house that may have a seagull atop but on the opposite side of the roof than in the image, please don’t be alarmed if, when you receive your house, you think the seagull has hopped from one side to the other, the house is basically the same size with the same glaze colour and pattern but it saves me listing 5 of the same pieces. Each house is individually put together with 6 pieces of porcelain and then a heap of framed windows are added. With firing at 1200, they sometimes warp, this is what porcelain does, it is a quirky clay and gorgeously translucent with a light inside. There has been a small price increase with the houses, this is because they really are a labour of love, and take so long to make – each window is glazed, on the inside so you cannot see any white porcelain from the outside, two coats of glaze and then two coats of glossy glaze to make each piece shiny and smooth. If there is any gold added, then the pieces go into the kiln for a third time.
